Chelsea vs Palmeiras Lineups, Match Preview, Team News, Head to Head, Prediction

European champions, Chelsea will face Palmeiras in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup after defeating Al Hilal 1-0 in the semi-final.

The Blues will be looking to finally get their hands on the only trophy that has eluded them in the Roman Abramovich era but the South American champions will be a difficult opposition.

Here are four key players of Palmeiras to watch out for ahead of the game.

1. Gustavo Gomez

Palmeiras captain, Gustavo Gomez has been a leader from the back for the Brazilian club.

The centre back already has 58 caps to his name for the Paraguay national team and played in the 2-0 win over Al Ahly in the semi-final.

He will be hoping to stop Chelsea’s attack led by Romelu Lukaku in Saturday’s game.

2. Gustavo Scarpa

Gustavo Scarpa scored 8 goals and provided 20 assists in all competitions for Palmeiras last season. His assists record was the highest in the squad as he was also the highest highest assists provider (6 assists) in the Brazilian league last season.

Scarpa is yet to get into stride this season as he only has one assist from five games in all competitions.

3. Raphael Veiga

Raphael Veiga was the top scorer for Palmeiras last season with 18 goals in all competitions and has maintained his statistical record so far this season.

The attacking midfielder has only failed to score or assist in one game for Palmeiras this season and had a goal and an assist against Al Ahly.

His record of 1 goal and 3 assists in 4 games in all competitions this season is something Chelsea will pay attention to ahead of the final.

4. Dudu

Statistically, Dudu has been Palmeiras’ best player so far this season with 3 goals and 1 assist in 4 games.

The Brazilian winger also scored and assisted against Al Ahly and it could be an interesting battle between him and Chelsea’s captain, César Azpilicueta on the Palmeiras left wing.

5. Rony

Rony is naturally a winger but has played in the centre forward position for Palmeiras so far this season.

The Brazilian has 1 goal and 2 assists to his name so far this season. He will be looking to open his account at the club World Cup in the final but first, he will have to find a way past a Thiago Silva-led Chelsea backline.
