Chelsea 2 key players missed training and out of FIFA club world cup game

Two Chelsea players did not practice with the rest of the squad on Sunday in Abu Dhabi, ahead of our FIFA Club World Cup semi-final match against Real Madrid on Wednesday.

Mason Mount missed Sunday’s training session due to an injury sustained in Saturday’s 2-1 FA Cup victory against Plymouth Argyle at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s Right back, Reece James worked out separately from the rest of the team as he recovers from a hamstring injury he sustained in December. Thankfully, Hakim Ziyech and Cesar Azpilicueta, who both suffered injuries following the game against Plymouth Argyle, were able to exercise on Sunday.

Because Thomas Tuchel was unable to fly to the UAE to self-isolate after testing positive for Covid-19, the practice was run by his coaching staff. Following Senegal’s African Cup of Nations victory on Sunday, Edouard Mendy is set to join the squad in Abu Dhabi.
