Chelsea open summer transfer with the signing of two world-class players medical tests in London

Done deal Chelsea first January signing arrives at Stamford Bridge, as fans delighted to welcome new star player

Recent reports suggest that Raphinha is close to joining Chelsea after The Blues agreed a fee with Leeds United. Chelsea are also closing in on Raheem Sterling. Signing these two players could help unlock Timo Werner and there is a reason why.

Timo Werner joined Chelsea back in 2020. Since that time he has struggled for good goalscoring form at the club. Although his contributions on the field have been important, but his goal scoring record is not good enough. However with the addition of Sterling and Raphinha, Werner could get back to his best.

After Werner joined Chelsea, it became clear that he is a player that needs space to operate. Timo Werner thrives when he has enough space to run into, however Chelsea’s style always allows teams to fall back into low blocks which is not ideal for a striker like Werner.

What Raheem Sterling and Raphinha will do to help Werner will be to create space in the box for Werner. Raphinha is a fast winger unlike Ziyech whose best quality is his delivery. Sterling and Raphinha are dribblers. They will always create space for a striker like Werner to run into.

This will help the team create more chances, and because of Werner’s pace, he will benefit the most. He might miss some chances, but working with Sterling and Raphinha will mean that there will be more chances created, and more chances to score.

Have you ever wondered why Werner struggles with Chelsea, but he almost always manages to get on the scoresheet with the German National team? It’s because of fast wingers like Leroy Sane and Gnabry who are experts when it comes to playing in tight spaces and opening up defenses with their flair and dribbling skills inside the box.

If Chelsea complete the signing of Raphinha and Sterling, and Timo Werner stays at the club this summer, the German striker could enjoy his best season yet with the West London club.
