Christian Pulisic acknowledges that “anything can happen” following rumors of a January surprise transfer to Manchester United involving the Chelsea winger.
After the United States’ World Cup campaign came to an end with a loss to Netherlands in the round of 16, earlier this month, the 24-year-old is back in training with Chelsea.
Pulisic had trouble securing consistent playing time at Chelsea before the tournament in Qatar, making only three starts in the Premier League before the domestic season was suspended. The forward was abroad at the World Cup, but because his country lost to the Netherlands, he was unable to help his country advance past the round of 16. He now returns to Chelsea with questions still remaining about his long-term prospects after finding it difficult to earn consistent playing time in the Premier League this year.
The 24-year-old, who originally signed with the Blues in 2019, has since been widely connected with the possibility of leaving the London-based team. This season, he has had trouble securing a starting spot at Stamford Bridge and has frequently been deployed as a substitute by both current manager Graham Potter and former head coach Thomas Tuchel. Before the January transfer market opens in a little over a fortnight, the USA international, who was linked with a shocking loan move to United during the summer, has continued to spark a lot of rumors. Along with Newcastle United and Liverpool, United, who are looking to add a striker in the coming month, have been linked to him.
Pulisic responded to the Indirect Podcast’s inquiry on his situation at Chelsea by saying: “I mean, right now I’m totally back at Chelsea and focused and ready to finish the season.”
But you’re familiar with how football works. Anything can happen since things change so quickly. Because Chelsea is where I am right now, I am just pushing myself in training and at work.
