It’s a shame – Lampard admits Chelsea’s top midfielder may leave Stamford Bridge

Chelsea interim manager, Frank Lampard has admitted that the club is losing the battle to keep Mason Mount at Stamford Bridge.
The player is being chased by Manchester United and Liverpool as his future at Stamford Bridge looks increasingly uncertain.
His current deal is set to expire next summer and Arsenal are also interested in signing the England international.
Mount, according to reports, wants to join Manchester United, although United’s imminent offer is expected to fall short of Chelsea’s huge £85million asking price.
Chelsea were beaten 4-1 by Manchester United at Old Trafford on Thursday evening with Mount not involved.
Lampard told Sky Sports: “It is a difficult situation,” pointing that some other established players at the club had at one point or another moved on to other clubs and the club have done well out of that.
‘I don’t know where Mason is at personally, he has a year left on his contract.
“In the old days it was, why are you leaving the club? In the modern day, players move on. It is a shame but maybe we have got into this situation where that is maybe what’s happening now.”
