The Blues are facing a packed schedule in the new year but the Liverpool boss wants a new rule that would help them out
Jurgen Klopp has called for the EFL to make the Carabao Cup semi-finals one-legged amid a packed festive fixture list.
Premier League clubs are currently in the midst of an extremely busy period, and are set to navigate a number of league games after Christmas.
The calendar is set to get even busier after the festive period with the FA Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and potentially the Carabao Cup semi-finals to be navigated by Chelsea.
With Covid-19 playing havoc with the current fixtures, managers have been left concerned – none least Jurgen Klopp.
The German has suggested making the current two-legged Carabao Cup semi-finals a one-game affair to relieve the pressure on the current fixture list.
Talking after his side’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, he said: “We play now on Wednesday, Sunday and Tuesday, that is impossible.
“We do not have the players. We could maybe have another case or two. We have to think about it, we cannot just push it all through.
“First of all, take away the second semi-final of the Carabao Cup. Just play once, wherever you play it I don’t care.
“The 26th and 28th of December is really not possible. We would prefer to play but we need some help. If we carry on we cannot carry on as usual.
“If we don’t play any more and have a break I am fine. But I know the problem: when do you want to play the games? It is not that easy to fit them in.
“We said before coronavirus that it was a bit busy and now it gives us a proper punch.”

Chelsea of course will hope to book their place in the last four of the competition before they think about the potential fixture.
The Blues take on Premier League rivals Brentford away from home on Wednesday evening.
