Middlesbrough vs Chelsea: Team News, Injury Update & Kick Off Time

Middlesbrough take on Chelsea in the Emirates FA Cup game at Riverside as UK yet to grant Thomas Tuchel request for the match to play under closed doors.

Team News

Middlesbrough have been inconsistent in their quest of a play-off spot in the Championship this season, but it hasn’t stopped their manager from fielding his strongest team in previous rounds against Real Rangnick’s side and Antonio Conte’s team, and a win over Thomas Tuchel’s men would complete a hat-trick of upsets. Chelsea’s opponents are hardly pushovers, yet even a second string can beat them.

Thomas Tuchel’s defense is arguably stronger than Ralf Rangnick’s and Antonio Conte’s at the moment, so making that crucial breakthrough could be tricky. Chelsea have a lot going on off the field, and they even requested that this game be played behind closed doors because they are not allowed to have any spectators at the Riverside Stadium, but the team has done excellently on the field despite the distractions at the club.

Sporar, the club’s joint leading scorer, has missed the last two games due to injury, and despite both scoring in the week, Balogun and Connolly will be hoping to keep their spots. On the left, there’s the customary competition between the seasoned Taylor and Marc Bola, with the former recently winning the nod. The rest of Chris Wilder’s lineup is essentially set, barring any injuries.

How Middlesbrough could lineup against Chelsea.

Chelsea Team News and Injury Update

Both James and Hudson-Odoi are serious concerns and are unlikely to play before the international break. Barcelona’s summer target Christensen was injured against Lille in the second leg of the UEFA champions league round of 16 and is unlikely to play, with Chalobah returning to the starting lineup. Kepa, Malang Sarr, Loftus-Cheek, Saul Niguez, and Timo Werner might all start, as they did in the last round at Luton town.

Kick Off Time

Middlesbrough vs Chelsea FA Cup game will be played at Riverside stadium on Saturday 19, with the kick of time at 18:15 pm (5:15 UK time and 6:15 NGA time).
