Thomas Tuchel refresh his interest in signing Sevilla defender, Kounde

Jules Kounde was exceptional yesterday in the UEFA Nations League final as France defeated Spain to emerge winner, his performance trigger Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel to Ken on signing the 22-year-old French international.

Kounde was on top of his performance against Spain in the Nations League final in Milan helping France in world defending Champions to reign again in Europe.

The Blues attempted to acquire the Frenchman during the summer transfer window but were unable to agree a deal before the deadline.

He is a widely known top target for the club and recent rumours suggest they may make another attempt to sign him.

According to 90min, Chelsea still remain keen on Kounde.

The 22-year-old centre-back is known as one of football’s hottest young prospects and the Blues worked hard to try and seal his signature over the summer months.

However, a deal failed to materialise and Kounde remains at Sevilla for another season.

It was also reported that the defender was ‘furious’ with his employers for not allowing him to move to west London, and was even said to be ignoring calls from club director Monchi and manager Julen Lopetegui.

Kounde to Stamford Bridge in the summer, but they were unable to get a deal done before the deadline day expired

“There was a club that he (Kounde) liked, which was Chelsea,” the La Liga club’s sporting director, Monchi, explained last month. “The first and only formal offer did not satisfy our desires and was conditional on Chelsea selling a player.

“It was an important offer, considering the current world where there are so many hardships, but it did not meet our demands, conditions, or quantities.”

Kounde, who is valued at around £60million by Sevilla, is understood to have been on Chelsea’s radar for more than two years. The Blues’ interest will not have simply ended and a future move for 22-year-old is still a possibility.

Sarr, meanwhile, remains at Chelsea. A deadline day switch to Bundesliga side Greuther Furth collapsed and so he is the Blues’ sixth-choice centre-back option behind Thiago Silva, Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilicueta, Trevoh Chalobah and Antonio Rudiger.
