Done deal Chelsea first January signing arrives at Stamford Bridge, as fans delighted to welcome new star player

Chelsea striker Armando Broja suffered a knee injury in the 1-0 defeat against Premier League rivals Aston Villa on Sunday with Todd Boehly exploring his options ahead of the January transfer window

Chelsea have been dealt a major injury blow after Armando Broja was stretchered off against Aston Villa. The Blues were 1-0 down when Broja contested a ball in the Villa penalty area, but immediately fell to the ground and remained down for several minutes.

Graham Potter must solve the problem facing Chelsea’s attackers when the Premier League resumes on Boxing Day, with Broja now sidelined and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang struggling for form in front of goal. The Blues are still facing somewhat of an injury crisis with N’Golo Kante, Reece James, Wesley Fofana and Ben Chilwell all unavailable for Potter at present, whilst Trevoh Chalobah was replaced having initially been listed in the starting XI.

Todd Boehly is set to back Potter in the January transfer window with new signings after spending close to £300million over the summer. The American owner was spotted in dialogue with the Blues boss and Behdad Eghbali after the 1-0 defeat against Villa in Abu Dhabi, potentially discussing transfer plans.

Chelsea are exploring the possibility of bringing Borussia Dortmund talent Youssoufa Moukoko to Stamford Bridge, according to The Athletic. Moukoko became the youngest player to represent Germany at a World Cup after coming on as a substitute in the 2-1 defeat by Japan in their opening group game.

The 18-year-old is set to be out of contract at Dortmund at the end of this season and Chelsea are thought to be progressing over a summer deal, but Boehly may find a way to bring him to Stamford Bridge next month. Given the latest injury to Broja, along with Aubameyang and Kai Havertz struggling to fire the Blues up the Premier League table, attacking reinforcements are likely to be on the agenda for January.

A move to Chelsea is not done yet but Premier League rivals are said to be under the impression that Moukoko’s move to the Blues is advanced. The 18-year-old has scored six goals and provided a further six assists in 22 appearances for Dortmund this season, starting just 12 times in all competitions.
